Since the last gameplay update, I have added UI elements (which are the components that make up the visual and interactive aspects of a software application, game or website) like a compass, health, Lucky Penny, and checkpoint counter.
How to Sign Up
To join as one of the Extended Playtesters, follow these steps:
1. Request Access: Visit itch.io and purchase access to the prototype for $7.
2. Play the Game: Dive into the playtest and enjoy the gameplay experience.
3. Provide Feedback: After completing the playtest, you’ll be asked to fill out a survey. Share your experience, thoughts, feedback, and report any issues you encountered while playing.
Your insights are invaluable in shaping the final version of the game!
The Lucky Newts 2025 Initiative
What I’m planning for The Lucky Newts is to expand the potential of these characters far beyond video games, and that is why I’m starting the 2025 Initiative!
It will take a while for The Lucky Newt video game to complete development as a final product. So, let’s get funding for multiple projects to be in the works in the meantime, while the video game remains in active development.
These projects will include, for now:
• The Lucky Newts Animated Shorts
• Active Merchandise
• The Lucky Newts Spinoff Games
…and potentially some other exciting projects in the future!
Here’s a closer look at some of these projects, which are currently in the planning and development stages:
The Lucky Newts Animated Shorts
• Full Cast Plus New Faces: The shorts will showcase the entire cast debuting in the game, along with exciting new characters.
• Multi-Platform Availability: Episodes will be uploaded to YouTube for standard viewing and shared on platforms like YouTube Shorts and TikTok for quick, scroll-friendly viewing.
• Bite-Sized Adventures: Each short will run approximately 3 minutes, presenting unique adventures that the cast embarks on.
• Strategic Marketing: These animated shorts will serve as effective marketing for the game, leveraging the popularity of content on these platforms to build excitement ahead of the game’s release.
Available Merchandise
• Online and In-Store: Merchandise will be available for purchase through the official Iyanda.com website and at select local retailers across North America.
The Lucky Newts Spinoff Games
• Expanding Horizons: These spinoff games are in development to explore new genres and expand The Lucky Newts beyond the platformer experience.
Character Reveal
Alongside the prototype debut, we’re excited to announce a special character reveal happening the same day! This new character will join Nedley and Amelia to complete the trio, officially solidifying the group and franchise name: The Lucky Newts.
Think you can guess what kind of animal he is? If you guess correctly, you’ll get access to the playtest for free! (Spoiler: You probably won’t figure it out.)
